Owners and Lab Directors

Rob Kornegay, BS MT (ASCP)
Valerie Kornegay, BS MT (ASCP)

Rob and Valerie are both Registered Medical Technologists, board certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Rob is originally from McAlester, Oklahoma and a graduate of McAlester High School. He is a graduate of East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma with a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology and Biology, and a minor in Chemistry. Rob completed his residency at the St. Francis School of Medical Technology in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1993 and was Board Certified in 1993.

Rob is familiar with a wide range of veterinary issues due to his rural background and history of working on farms and ranches in high school and college; but his experience as a dog breeder, trainer and competitor is also an asset. Rob has been affiliated with Vetpath Laboratory since 2001.

In his spare time, Rob is an avid outdoorsman and owns Muddydog Retrievers, and enjoys training Labrador Retrievers for Hunt Test Competitions.

Valerie Kornegay is a Tulsa native and a graduate of Memorial High School. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater Oklahoma with a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology and a minor in Biology and Chemistry. She completed her residency at Valley View Hospital School of Medical Technology in 1988 and was board certified in 1988.

Valerie is an avid runner and participates in local 5 and 10k runs and is co-owner of Muddydog Retrievers.

Both Rob and Valerie have experience in working in two of the most respected reference laboratories in the nation: Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City and St. John Medical Center for Regional Medical laboratory (RML). Together they bring modern reference laboratory methods and organization to the veterinary market.

Rob and Valerie became owners of Vetpath Laboratory in April of 2005.

Together they have one son, Colin and are members of First United Methodist Church in Tulsa.

Lead Tech

Tracy Kast, BS, MS, MLT (ASCP)

Tracy is a Registered Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (ASCP)

Tracy is a Tulsa native and graduated from Central High School. She is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma with a Bachelors Degree in Cellular Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She graduated from Tulsa Community College with a degree as a Medical Laboratory Technology. She was board certified in 1988. Tracy also has a Masters Degree in Education from Oklahoma State University and currently teaches Hematology and Phlebotomy in the Medical Laboratory Technology program at Tulsa Community College.

Tracy is the mother of 3 children and attends CHURCH on the MOVE in Tulsa.

PATHOLOGIST

DR. STAN KOSANKE

Stan Kosanke, DVM, Ph.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Pathologists. Stan provides our Histopathology and Cytology services.

CLINICAL CONSULTANT

DR. RALPH BUCKNER

Dr. Ralph Buckner, DVM, Ph.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Ralph provides consultative services involving internal medicine issues for our laboratory.
